Styracosaurus albertensis

1/72 scale

painted by Steve Riojas( left) and Marc Tassone (Right)

Styracosaurus is one of the most dynamic looking dinosaurs from the Ceratopsian family. It is characterized by many horns radiating out of its parietal (head shield) and one long horn from it's nose. Perhaps the spikes were for display rather than defence, although one can hardly dismiss the fact that such an array would have proved formidable to predators. Remains of this animal put it's length somewhere around 18 feet. It lived during the Late Cretaceous period in Alberta and Montana and was a contemporary of Corythosaurus and Gryposaurus.
