Allosaurus fragilis

1/72 scale

painted by Steve Riojas

Allosaurus fragilis was a large predator that prowled North America during the Jurassic period. It seems that an averaged sized adult was about 30 feet long, however, one fossil specimen is a collosol 45 feet long. A current debate sugests that larger sized Allosaurus belonged to a different species (Allosaurus atrox, Saurophaganax). Recent discoveries sugest that Allosaurus lived in large groups. It's a good thing that it's contemorary Stegosaurus was well armoured to protect itself from this lion of the Jurassic!
